About My Practice

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice, practicing in Gold River, California. I work with couples and individuals.

Depending on your preference, I work both in-person and virtually.

My approach to therapy is about relationship building during the process of therapy, with the focus on building a healthy relationship with self and others.

Counseling gives you a place to slow down, be heard and learn new ways to relate to each other.

When counseling can help

People come to therapy for many reasons. Common ones include:

• Ongoing conflict or poor communication
• Distance or lost trust between partners
• Infidelity and other breaches of trust
• Stress, anger or painful emotions that affect the family
• Major life changes and transitions
• Addiction (including compulsive, problematic sexual behavior) and its effect on loved ones
• Poor self-esteem and responses to shame

I use evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Affect Management Skills Training (AMST).

My Bio

Professional Credentials

George F. Peckham, MS, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. He works in private practice with couples and individuals. For over a decade, George was the Men’s Clinical Director for an outpatient program for sexual addiction in Northern California.

Professional Certifications

George is a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), trained by Dr. Patrick Carnes. That training informs his work with individuals and couples facing the effects of compulsive, problematic sexual behavior.

George is a member of:

• California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT)
• International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP)

Experience Beyond the Office

George has spent over 30 years in men’s groups and over 35 years in the recovery community. That experience shapes his respect for how hard change is and how much support helps.
